Self-Improvement Here are 5 key tips to help you create a positive mind set. It will change your professional life, your home life and you will influence everyone around you. Tip 1. You must believe. You must believe in your own abilities. Have faith that you can achieve whatever you want to achieve in this life. Know for certainty that you can do whatever it is you want to achieve. You know, years ago I suffered severe anxiety in my life. I took to books, cd’s and seminars from where ever I could get them. I persued all these things so I could to get out of the feelings of helplessness that I was feeling. It got so bad, that I went along to a counsellor for some advice. He turned me on my head and how did he do that? By asking me a series of questions. He was able to challenge my current beliefs enough to show me that some or all were not true, and you can do that for yourself. Tip 2. Be Still. The Bible phrases this one like this. "Be still and know that I am God." When we look at the news today all we see is trouble, either on the TV or the newspaper. There’s a war here, or a fire there, someone doing something nasty to someone else. "Stop The Insanity!" The definition of insanity is doing the same thing everyday and expecting a different result. This applies to everything in our lives, but to be still we must stop reading the newspaper and stop watching TV. Instead why not read a beautiful psalm out of the Bible before going to bed each night and try a simple prayer. "God, give me a mind full of peace instead of a head full of trouble. Let your peace flow over my body right now before I go to sleep. Thank you Father. In Jesus’ precious name we pray, Amen." Tip 3. Get a little Exercise. Have faith that you can begin and continue a simple exercise program. If you need to, get your doctors counsel on it, but just a simple 3-4 days a week minimum exercise program will set you on the right track. Walking is the simplest exercise that you can do, but you just need to get out and do it. Remember, starting anything is the hardest part. 30 minutes a day, 3 days a week. Don’t make any excuses. Let’s all take Nike’s advice and "Just Do It." Tip 4. Focus. More than anything else that really helped me, was this one. A simple focus on positive things, positive thoughts about people etc. Stop complaining about people, the boss, the shows on TV, just try the simple action of not complaining about anything for a day and then doing it the next day. This will make a huge difference in your life. The simple act of not complaining each day can make a real measurable change in your mindset. Tip 5. Take Action. Now it’s time! You’ve set the goal, you know what to do, now you just have to get out there and do it. Treat this like you would treat any other goal. It is not easy to create a positive mindset.
